OdA Social Services of Both Basel Cantons

: A Networked Learning Platform for Validating Competencies in the Social Services Sector

As the central industry association for vocational training in the social services sector, the OdA Soziales beider Basel (OdA SozbB) is setting new standards. Together with MaxBrain, the association has created a digital learning ecosystem that seamlessly connects in-company training and inter-company courses (ÜK) in one central location. The ecosystem focuses on the skills development of more than 1,000 apprentices, thereby ensuring the long-term quality of vocational training in the region.

Initial situation
Making knowledge easy to understand

The OdA SozbB coordinates initial and continuing education in the social services professions in the cantons of Basel-Landschaft and Basel-Stadt. To ensure the long-term success of this multifaceted educational mission, the association sought a centralized digital learning solution. Five core requirements defined the initial situation.

1
Ensuring a Sustainable Training Culture

As the hub of regional vocational training, the OdA SozbB is responsible for the basic training of apprentices as well as the professional development of training supervisors. Today, modern, digitally supported training is key to attracting young talent to the social services sector and retaining skilled workers in the field.

2
Networking the
Learning Centers

To provide training companies with insight into the performance and progress of their apprentices in inter-company courses, it was necessary to connect the training companies and the inter-company courses (ÜK) technologically and securely through a central platform.

3
Consolidation of Decentralized Knowledge Resources

Until now, course management has been handled using fragmented, siloed solutions, while course materials were made available in a decentralized manner. As a result, the necessary foundation for automated processes—as well as for a consistent and transparent learning experience for all participants—was lacking.

4
Central Ecosystem
for Modern Learning

The goal was to create a forward-looking, all-in-one system that consolidates course structures, information, and learning materials in one place. While the intuitive front end guides learners digitally to their content, administrative overhead is significantly reduced thanks to automated processes.

5
MaxBrain Selected

The decision to choose MaxBrain was based on its broad range of expertise, which extends far beyond that of a standard learning management system (LMS). For this project, MaxBrain covered the entire value chain, from media-didactic content design and AI-powered team enablement to technologically sophisticated integration into existing industry solutions.

“MaxBrain brings digital pedagogy, team enablement, and complex system integration to the forefront. There is hardly any other provider that combines these success-critical competencies so effectively. Together, we have created a digital infrastructure that positions us as one of the most modern professional associations in the care sector.”

Solution
: A Connected Education Ecosystem

The new platform has created a digital hub that supports practical application through modern technology. MaxBrain’s solution serves as an integrative link that centrally manages all of OdA SozbB’s learning processes.

ERP Integration
Automated
Data and Information Flows

At the heart of the technology is welante’s course management system, which is integrated into the LMS. It consolidates all data from the three learning locations for administrative purposes, automates the exchange of information, and enables training companies to be directly integrated into the trainees’ training process.

Blended Learning, Competency-Based Learning,

In collaboration with the association, MaxBrain has designed the course offerings to be skills-based and interactive. This blended-learning approach ensures that learners acquire practical skills and that teachers can increasingly act as coaches.

Networked Learning Portal: Bridging the Gap to Practical Training at

Through the central portal, training companies gain a clear overview of their apprentices’ progress in inter-company courses (ÜK). This transparency improves coordination between training locations and enables companies to provide their apprentices with higher-quality support and more targeted guidance based on their level of training.

Abacus
Fully Automated
Financial Administration

Thanks to the software's deep integration, invoicing and invoice verification are fully automated. This reduces the workload on the entire finance department and ensures maximum transparency in payment processing.
