Insight Next Best Offer – Recommendations Right in the Middle of the Course
Why Learning Recommendations Have Been Underestimated for Too Long—and What’s Changing Now
The biggest disruption in continuing education rarely occurs during the course itself, but rather afterward: Those who don’t know what the next logical step is stop learning. With Next Best Offer, MaxBrain brings recommendations directly into the course—as a strategic tool to prevent learners from dropping out and to foster sustainable skill development.
With GROW, MaxBrain has already taken the first step in this direction: catalog-level recommendations that highlight suitable offerings before the course begins, similar to well-known streaming platforms. Now we’re taking it a step further and bringing an e-commerce principle directly into the course: Next Best Offer. Instead of a static overview at the beginning, the recommendation guides learners right where decisions are actually made—during the course itself.
For our three customer profiles, this has different but equally concrete consequences:
Companies gain a tool that aligns skill development with actual needs rather than with rigid training plans. Appropriate follow-up offerings are generated automatically based on learning behavior—without requiring HR or L&D to manually curate each learning path.
In this way, associations enhance the value of their educational offerings for members: When participants see during a course which program or module comes next in the sequence, they are more likely to stay within the association’s own educational offerings—rather than looking elsewhere.
Educational institutions benefit directly on the revenue side: higher completion rates, more enrollments in follow-up courses, and better utilization of their existing course offerings—all without additional sales efforts.
We didn’t develop this feature behind closed doors, but rather in collaboration with industry partners who have in-depth knowledge of the day-to-day realities of continuing education: Talentus, Weka, ZfU, SwissAccounting, Zweistunden, and other leading education and training providers in the DACH region. Their experience was directly incorporated into the design.
Recommendations are therefore no longer just a “nice-to-have,” but a structural component that ensures learning actually continues—and has an impact, both on individuals and on organizations.
We are excited to take this step together with our customers.
